Simply Less is More # 217

Hello there,
Well what a week this has been. Our continuous battle of the leaky bathroom has finally been sorted out (yippee) but golly it was hard work. Every time you think you`ve solved the problem, somewhere else starts dripping. So...I haven`t had a great deal of time to get into the craft room and I apologise for my lack of commenting. Being a plumbers mate is hard work and I found myself falling into bed before ten most nights.

Anyway that`s over now so I grabbed the chance today to get crafty with this weeks Simply Less is More challenge which is to   COMBINE 3 PREVIOUS LIM CHALLENGES INTO ONE CREATION

Oooh so many to chose from,

I apoligise for the rubbish pic. The weather is very gloomy here today no amount of editing is improving this.

The challenges I have used are, wk 3   Spring
                                                wk55  Punches/ Die cuts
and                                          wk 172 Flowers

I sponged some white linen card with yellow, orange and a touch of pink versacolour inks then spritzed it with some Docrafts gold Spritzing ink.
Cut out with a SB circle die and mounted it onto another, larger circle.
The flower is Memory box Dancing Tulips. I cut 2, one green and one red and cut the heads off to swap them. Then mounted it onto the circle using foam pads.
I`ve also added some Do Crafts Pearl Effects along the stem.
The sentiment is from TSG.
IRL the background is brighter with more yellow but, as I say the weather isn`t being kind.

Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx

Simply Less is More # 216

Hi there, I`m popping in with a quick post for this weeks Simply Less is More Challenge . It`s theme week and the theme is to CaSE one of the DT cards.
I`ve chosen to CaSE Chrissies inspiration card.

This is my interpretation of it,

I sponged some white linen card with Spun Sugar DI then stamped my flowers ( Flourishes)
I made a mask with a post it before stamping my text (Indigo Blu) with Memento London Fog.
The flowers are coloured a deeper pink using Spectrum Noir pens.
I trimmed the panel to fit the cut across to make into a tile.

We`ve had a rather eventful week this week with water leaks galore from our bathroom.. We have a toilet with a push button flush system and the push bit broke about 3 months ago. Alan fitted a new one but unbeknown to us it must have been leaking slowly ever since. We discovered this leak when it started dripping through the dining room ceiling just before we went to bed. He sorted that out but then on wednesday he decided that he`d replace the floorboards that were a bit chewed up and promptly hammered a floorboard nail through the radiator pipe. I was in the loft and by the time I got downstairs there was water pouring off the light fitting and directly onto my new dining table. A frantic 10 minutes later we had 2 buckets and a bowl catching drips a soggy towel from the table.
After replacing the damaged pipe and turning the water back on we had another dripping. The connector at the other side of the radiator had been disturbed and was leaking slightly. Sorted that out and heaved a huge sigh of relief.
This afternoon he went up to lay the new laminate flooring and had to take the handbasin out to lay under the pedastel instead of cutting around it and twisted another connector causing yet another leak. I finished up nearly standing on my head turning screws to cut off the water while Alan held the wash basin up with one hand while disconnecting the taps with the other.
Do any of you remember "Some Mothers do have `em? Think that and Laurel & Hardy and you have some idea what my weeks been like.

Simply Less is More # 215

Hello there!
I had a lovely day yesterday, it being Mothers day although quite busy. We went to see mum in law to give her her card and flowers and have a natter. She`ll be 90 in july and does really well for her age. She likes nothing better than a gossip and a giggle. We then popped in to see my mum in the care home and to give her her card before nipping to dads to catch up with all the gos from his mega 6 week holiday to Oz and NZ. He`s returned with a nasty bout of bronchitis bless him and at 83 it`s quite a worry although he keeps assuring me he`s fine and I`ve to stop fussing. Then it was get home quick for my kids to visit. This entertaining lark is quite exhausting isn`t it? Anyway...

I`m a bit late this week with my card for Simply Less is More Challenge , infact I missed last weeks altogether as we ( I) have been decorating our bedroom. More on that later...

The challenge this week is a One Layer Card to include an Animal. A good look through my stamps and I rediscovered this Humphrey stamp from Crafters Companion. I think I`ve only stamped him once before and that was a long time ago.

I stamped him then made a mask with a post it before using a Memory Box stencil for the background.
Coloured him with Promarkers and added a tiny white pearl to the centre of the flower.
The sentiment is from the same set, job done.

So...we decided to redecorate the bedroom which was in desperate need of doing. It`s quite an old house and the plastering isn`t that good so I went for an embossed paper and the palest pink I could find. We have white fitted cupboards on two walls and a huge window on the third so there`s not as much pink as it sounds. Before we started I thought it might be a good idea to do up an old stool that I inherited from an aunt donkeys years ago. It was rather mucky and very tatty so had been stuck in a corner in the loft with alsorts piled on it for ages.

Poor neglected thing. I stripped the fabric off and the braiding and found it was padded with half an old feather pillow complete with ticking which made me laugh, gave it a sand down and a wash, a coat of undercoat, a coat of white gloss and recovered it to look like ...

This..It`s not perfect by a long shot but not bad for a first attempt. It has been decribed both as Pink Princess and tarts boudoir but I`m pleased with it. I think I got a bit carried away with the padding though but it has to be an improvement. I did ask hubby first before I plunged him into all this pinkness and he just said " I aren`t bothered, it`s dark when I`m asleep" Well, what can you say to that hee hee.
