Floral sympathy card

Hello there!
Sadly a friend of my daughters died recently. She was young and vibrant and very girly so I was asked to make a sympathy card for her family but in pretty colours rather than the usual subdued ones.

I used some Swiss Dots Pink Petticoat papers for the leaves and most of the flowers are from Wild Orchid crafts.

Simply Less is More # 221

Hello There,

Well I`m a bit earlier this week for the Simply Less is More Challenge thank goodness. The craftroom move is done, most of the sorting out is finished but I`ve put the rest on hold so I can get back to some crafting.

I`m also entering this into  Pixies Snippet Playground,

The challenge this week is to INCLUDE A TAG
Well anyone who has been following me recently will know of my almost obsessive use of tags on cards so this was right up my street.

I made two cards, this is the girly one.
Using the CB Swiss Dots EF I made a panel for the front of my card.
I used a left over scrap of Pink Petticoat Swiss Dots printed card for the tag, cut out with a Die- namics tag die.
The heart is also cut from a scrap of white card with a Sizzix heart die.
The butterfly is from a Memory Box die and, again from a scrap of pink paper.
The twine is white crochet thread that I coloured with a Spectrum Noir pen.
The sentiment is Flourishes Tag Lines made into a banner.
I`ve finished off with some irridescent sequins and some tiny clear gems.

I also made a male one, just because.
Again mostly from scraps and snippets.
The panel on the front is another from CB because it reminded me a little bit of the sea.
The tag is another from Pink Petticoat swiss dots.
The Anchor and Wheel dies are from Die- namics
The sentiment is computer generated.

My daughter ( Rubys Mum) made me cry on friday. Now this is not unusual as I cry at the drop of a hat but I still fill up everytime I think of this.
One of the kids at the oncology clinic in Leeds wanted to go to see the new Cinderella movie so her dad rang the local cinema to see when the quietest time was to take her. He explained to the lady on the phone that because his daughter had cancer, her immune system was very delicate and they couldn`t risk taking her when there would be lots of other people around and also the air conditioning can cause problems. The lady on the phone said she fully understood as she had been poorly too and to leave it with her and she`d get back to him.
A couple of hours later the lady rang back to tell him that she`d been intouch with Disney and they had agreed to let them put on a special screening of the film.
Thinking that there would be maybe a few dozen other special children there off the family went to the cinema. When they arrived the little girl was greeted by two real life Disney Princesses ( Cinderella and Frozen) and they had the whole cinema to themselves. The little girl was sat with the Princesses at either side holding her hands, she had a huge box of chocolates and the time of her life.
How wonderful is that?
I`m off now before I start myself off again.

Simply Less is More # 220

Hello there,

Well I`m late with my entry for Simply Less is More Challenge once again, sorry about that. I`ve been swapping my craft room. It`s now known as Cards from the bedroom under the loft lol.

The theme for this week is UP, UP & AWAY.

I have a lovely teddy with balloons stamp but I`ve used it before for a LiM challenge and I wanted to come up with something a bit different. This is it,

Not quite sure how high bees fly but judging by the huge one that was trying to get in our bedroom window the other day, it`s high enough.

I used a Kaisercraft Hexagons stamp with white ink and white EP then sponged Spiced Marmalade DI and Marigold Versacolor over the top.
I then cut 3 hexagons using a Spellbinders die.
The sentiment is PC generated.
The Bee is from Pink Petticoats Little Bees collection. I`ve added a touch of Glamour Dust to his wings.

My daughter moved back home a couple of years ago and has been using the spare bedroom. My husband now works permanant nights so I`ve been limited to the amount of time I can get into the loft without disturbing him ( aluminium loft ladders are very creaky). Anyway , daughter now has a new partner who lives in York. My daughter works for the co-op and has now transfered to the York branch and moved in with new partner. I`ve taken this chance to steal her bedroom so hopefully I`ll get to spend a bit more time in the craftroom and a lot less twiddling my thumbs waiting for hubby to get up.
It was really hard work and has taken me almost a week to bring stuff down and take stuff up but it`s done now, barring a bit of sorting out. I did feel my age though, you know when you have a bright idea and your head says" Yay, go for it" but your body screams " What WERE you thinking?"
Time to relax with some crafting I think.

Simply Less is More # 219

Hello there, a quick post from me today to share my card for this weeks Simply Less is More Challenge.
It`s One Layer week again and this time it`s to use splatters on our creations.

For my card I`ve used Kaisercraft Stains stamp set using 3 different shades of blue.
I then stamped a Marion Emberson designs image over that in black before giving it a quick squirt of Aqua Lagoon Shimmer Magic by Caroles crafts.
The sentiment is from TSG.

I`m in the process of moving my craft room again so it`s a very short post for me this time.

Simply Less is More # 218

HAPPY EASTER ALL!

It`s Colour week at Simply Less is More Challenge and this time it`s, PREDOMINANTLY BLACK.
Your whole card doesn't have to be all black and you may use a little of another colour, but whatever you add to your design, even if it's minimal, should be mainly black.
So think silhouettes, monochrome, ombre, chalkboard technique... there doesn't have to be a lot of black... if your design is minimal, it just needs to be the predominant colour.

I got carried away and made 3,

This one I think is my favourite.
I made a 6x6 square base card from Papermill White Linen card.
I used Black card to cut a smaller square, found the middle and cut out the circle using a SB die and rounded the corners before embossing it with a Darice EF.
I stamped the dotty circle with Versamark Onyx Black. I`m sorry but I can`t remember who made the stamp.
The sentiment is from an old The Stampman Football set, the font was just what I wanted for this card.

For this card I`ve used some snippets for the banners.
The Label is from Waltzing Mouse Vintage Labels, the sentiment is a mix of Layers of Color and Flourishes stamps, stamped in black and embossed in clear EP before cutting out with a SB labels 4 die.
I spent half an hour searching for my WM labels stamps before realising that I`d already got them out, Doh!

This one I`m not sure about. It`s a CaSE of a card I found on Pinterest which is fab but I don`t think the black and white do it justice.
6x6 black card base.
White linen card cut into a smaller square.
I stamped the diagonal stripe from Paper Smooches in Versacolour Black before mounting it using foam pads.
The sentiment is TSG stamped onto a Die-namics tag.
I`ve added a tiny bit of yellow with the twine

Enjoy the rest of your Easter weekend, try not to eat all your eggs in one go lol
