Simply less is More # 115

Good afternoon all!

My but it`s a blustery day today. I spent most of yesterday afternoon planting seeds in trays ready for when the warmer weather finally arrives. I still have some left to do but it`s so windy I`m afraid they`ll blow away. I hope it`s better where you are.
The challenge this week at Simply Less is More is to use a favourite film as inspiration for our cards. Mmm, a tricky one as it`s one layer week too.
I don`t really have a favourite film. When I think of the best family films all I can come up with is Goonies and apart from that I prefer a good psychological thriller. I have nothing in my stamp collection that comes anywhere near.
So after a trawl through the collection I settled on a Peter Rabbit stamp and the film Watership Down.
Yea I know...pushing it a bit aren`t I ? ;-)

Peter Rabbit is by Crafters Companion and I stamped him and then masked him to stamp the bullrushes.
I bought this stamp from a stall at a Ross Papercraft show but it hasn`t got a makers name so I can`t give credit. I stamped it in Memento Olive Grove and used some tiny seed beads for the heads.
These seed beads are sold as nail art and come in a pack of 12 in various gorgeous colours. I got mine from work ( Poundland) for 50p because some thieving toerag had stolen one of the tubes. How low can you get?
The sentiment is from the same Peter Rabbit set.

Quick update on Ruby.
She is doing really well and waiting for the results of her latest blood test to see if she`s ready for her final dose of chemo, yaay!
The day after she came out of hospital the local paper called round to do a follow up after the report on Callie`s hair cut. They did a lovely article on Ruby and on Wilms Tumours. There were also some great pics.

A delicate, pastel thank you

Morning all!

In complete contrast to yesterdays bright and bold offering, I`ve made a much more delicate, springlike thank you card. I`ve had a quite creative week this week. Mr mojo has been very attentive.

Another very quick and simple card using snippets.
I cut 3 pieces of card into strips and rounded the bottoms using a nestie circle die.
Punched the daisies out of the same card and added a clear gem to the centres.
The sentiment is TSG.

The fundraising box is getting rather full now. We just need a date and a venue for the main fundraising event and we`re off. Can`t wait.

Bright and Bold thank you card

Afternoon All!

Regular readers will know that every now and again I get the urge to go bright and bold with vivid colours. I`m sure this is because of an inbuilt need for bright sunshine, which we have had a little taste of this week but are now back to a dull grey. Will spring ever arrive?

Not too OTT which is just as well but I`m really pleased with the effect.
Hearts are cut out with a Sizzix die.
Sentiment is PC generated.
The coloured hearts were embossed with a Swiss Dots EF after cutting.

White on white thank you

Good evening all!

A really quick post from me to share another thank you card to add to the stash. Mojo and imagination were sadly lacking but after a quick trawl through the web and Pinterest I had ideas coming out of my ears. Pity I ran out of time :)

Grandma`s knitting basket

Good morning all!

Among the thank you cards that Cheryl asked me to make is one for a lady that has knitted a selection of hooded cardigans for Ruby.  ( Yes, our Rubes is a hoody ; ). Mainly because of the cold weather  but I think she`s also a little bit conscious of the fact that she hasn`t any hair and all the other children at school do. Anyway Cheryl asked if I could make one with a knitting theme and I found this fabby digi from Just Inklined

I`ve coloured the image with a mix of pens and cut it out using a Spellbinders Floral Ovals die. I`ve added some Glossy Accents to the lens of the glasses for fun.
The sentiment is Flourishes Tag Lines and the DP is Pink Petticoat. Some ribbon and a bow to finish.

Simply Less is More # 114

Good Morning All!

I hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend.

Ruby is home from hospital and is doing very well. Her ear infection has cleared up now but not before it spread to her other ear and perforated her ear drum. She was very very poorly for a while because her platelette count was on zero so she had nothing at all to fight the infection with. Thank goodness for antibiotics. Once they kicked in she was soon on her feet and causing havoc in the hospital hee hee.
Me and my other daughter, Angie went to see her on wednesday and when we were leaving Cheryl came down to see us off leaving Ruby alone in the bed. This is what she came back to...

Ruby`s favourite member of staff, Nurse Nicki thought it would be a great idea to let Ruby paint a picture. She had splashed the walls, the bed needed stripping and the frame had to have a wash down. But Ruby was happy so who cares? Lol.
Anyway the point I was getting to is that now Ruby`s treatment is coming to an end ( fingers crossed) Cheryl  needs some thank you cards to give to the many people that have supported them all over the past year and a bit. I thought I might as well make a stash and she can choose any she needs.

The challenge this week at Simply Less is More is a colour challenge, USE LIME AND BLACK,
Here is my Lime and black thank you card,

I made another frame card using a rectangle nestie and stamped some script by Indigo Blu using Versafine Onyx Black.
I`ve added a torn piece of card over some of the script and a Lime ( looks much more lime IRL) die cut from Marianne Designs.
The sentiment is by TSG.

Simply Less is More # 113

Happy Easter Everyone.

I hope you`re enjoying the long weekend and not eating too much chocolate hee hee.
As march has 5 saturdays we have a lucky dip week at Simply Less is More and this time we are asked to use SCALLOPS on our creations.
This should have been a walk in the park really but I had trouble coming up with something out of the ordinary. See what you think,

 My first card is pretty standard really. I started off well enough but lost the plot when it came to the sentiment.
Dp is Crafty Impressions Romanza. The upper panel is cut using a Spellbinders Scallop die and then run through with a Crafts Too EF.
I didn`t have any ribbon in the right shade of pink so I`ve coloured some white with a Promarker.
The sentiment is by Flourishes, cut out with a nestie Labels 4 die.

I was asked to make a card during the week using something I haven`t got so I had to make a trip to Hobbycraft and pick up a decoupage sheet. This prompted me to rake out all the old decoupage that I`ve been hoarding for years and not using. I thought I might as well put some to good use and make a card with it.
I`ve used a pale peach card base and made a panel with white card which I`ve punched along the long edge with a MS Doily punch.
The sentiment is by Flourishes and the decoupage is from a book by TBZ.
It`s a bit twee but I`m sure someone, somewhere likes twee :-)

Ruby is quite poorly at the moment. She had her penultimate dose of Chemo the week before last and seemed to be doing really well but then developed a temperature which was up and down for a few days. Yesterday Mum noticed some fluid from her ear and she had a high temp so it was off to the the local hospital for tests.
Ruby`s white blood cells are extremely low which means she cannot fight the infection on her own, so she`s had a blood transfusion. This isn`t out of the ordinary as the chemo knocks her bloods down anyway but with a severe ear infection too it has made her poorly this time. She`s on 2 lots of IV antibiotics and will be in hospital for about 5 days.
This morning Ruby insisted on getting out of bed to play as she wasn`t poorly enough for bed but after about 10 minutes admitted defeat and went back to bed. She is one tough cookie and I know she`ll pull through this. Just one more bout of chemo in a couple of weeks and that should be it ( fingers crossed).
