Ruby's 11th birthday

hello there,

Today is my grand daughter Ruby's 11th birthday. She's going up to high school in September, where does the time go?
She is now well over a year cancer free and doing extremely well apart from some health issues due to the after effects of treatment but nothing too serious.
We also had some amazing news ealier in the month.  Ruby got very good results in her SAT's and the highest result recorded at the school for spelling and grammar. Not bad for a kid that missed roughly 3 years of schooling due to ill health and hospital stays.
To say we are very proud is an understatement, this child never ceases to amaze us. She truly is a super hero.

I knew I wanted a pretty, vibrant card for her but not too over the top as she isn't really a girlie girl. So I've tried to keep the flowers to a minimum, quite difficult for me sometimes lol.

A place to start July 2019

Hello there,

I'm just sneaking in before the end of the July challenge at A place to start.
This month it's Anything Goes so I thought I'd share some knitting with you.

I always knitted for my children when they were young and even knit myself a couple of jumpers  but then once the kids grew up and I went back to work full time I just stopped. I started again when my eldest grand daughter was expecting the twins 3 years ago.  Our 6th grandbaby Emilia was born in May and the twins mum is expecting a girl in November so I'm getting plenty of practice in.

It's not the best pic as it's actually Lemon but looks off white.  I'm knitting larger sizes for Emilia as it's far too warm at the moment for cardigans but gives me plenty of time to build a collection for the winter months.

Simply Less is More # 400

Hello there,

I hope the weather where ever you are is being kind to you. It's a bit too hot for me here this week,30 degrees and rising so nothing very energetic getting done by me. I did however find a slightly cooler spot in the craft room for the latest challenge from Simply Less is More.
This time we have been asked to use our smaller images, less than 2 inches.

After a bit of oohing and aahing I decided on this cute little image from Penny Black

I coloured the flower in a hot pink with a Spectrum Noir pen to give it a pop of colour.
The rest is coloured with Promarkers and the image is cut out with a Spellbinders circle nestie.
The leaf stems are by Simply Graphic.
The sentiment is by Papertrey stamped in Versafine Onyx.

Mum in laws 94th birthday

Hello there,

It was Alan's mum's 94th birthday last Monday. She has kidney failure which causes audio hallucinations that are causing some problems, mainly for the rest of the family. But apart from that she's doing really well for an old bird. We normally all take her for a meal to celebrate her birthday but she doesn't seem to want to leave the house much so we all popped in to see her over the weekend. Great to have a catch up with the in laws.

I got a bit carried away with the flowers on this one but she's worth it. I think it would also make a good wedding card.

Backing paper from Pink Petticoat ( now the Lovely Studio) but sadly now retired.
Frame is Spellbinders.
Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

A snippets birthday card

Hello there,

It was my grand daughter Ami's 7th birthday on Saturday. She started dance classes a few months ago and last week had her first exams. She proudly showed off two certificates for Highly Commended when we went to see her for her birthday and luckily I already had dancing in mind when I made her card.
As this one is made up of mainly offcuts and snippets I'm entering it into this weeks challenge at Pixie's snippets playground

The backing papers are both from Pink Petticoat/ The Lovely studio. The hearts are left over from Emilia's card and the Roses are an offcut that I've been hanging onto for ages as this design is now discontinued and I stupidly forgot to save it to disc DOH!
The banner is made from the leftover piece that you get when you make an A4 sheet of card into a 15cm x 15cm square card with a little piece of the hearts behind.
The butterflies are cut from a piece of pink glitter card that has more cut outs than card left.
I found the image on Google images. It's really difficult trying to find a dancer of colour for some reason but as soon as I saw this one I loved it, it's Ami to a tee.

The number 7 is from a sheet from The Works
The gems are from my stash.

This is Ami with her new baby sister Emilia
I'm so lucky, I get lots & lots of cuddles

Less is more #399

Hello there,

It's time for the latest challenge at Simply Less is More and this time it's,

We've had quite a busy weekend so I've made a really quick and simple card.

I used a piece of smooshed card from my stash, cut into diamond shapes with a Spellbinders nested set.
The Celebrate die is cut from silver glitter card using a Britannia die.
Finished off with a few tiny gems.

Since I made this card I've had another idea that, time allowing , I'll do during the week.
