The challenge this week at Less is More is to use ink, preferably in a way you haven`t used it before. Mmmm, I use ink to stamp images and that`s about it for me. I don`t do techniques mainly because I`m pretty useless and can`t afford to buy all those different inks and never use them. So, what to do? I remembered Susan Raihala
showing a technique with Twinkling H2o`s , an acrylic block and a water spritzer only the other day so I had a go at that.Susan`s is fabulous ofcourse. I used half a dozen pieces of scrap card to practice on and they were all rubbish so I gave up on that idea. So, while I still had my H2o`s out I thought I`d mask a square and paint some colour onto a card. This is the result.
I used post its to mask but because the paint was quite wet it seeped a little around the edges. I quite like the `scruffy` effect and the colour is fabulously shimmery but I`m not happy with them. I might give it another go using masking tape.I`ve simply stamped over the colour using stamps from Chocolate Baroque and Inkadinkado.
When I came to stamp them I wondered what I could do with the limited inks in my collection. I don`t even have any particularly juicy ink pads but I thought I try out some Versacolour on scrap card. I used a spare bathroom sponge,cut up into little pieces and did a practice run on a spare piece of card and this time using masking tape. Oh yes! it worked a treat.
Here is the finished card.
For the sand I used a mixture of Sand Beige and Canary and the sky/sea is Baby Blue and Cyan.
The stamp is by Inkadinkado Down by the Seaside. I`m much happier with this one and have now decided that I need to start saving my pennies for some grown up ink pads.
