The Shabby Tea Room wk#98

Good Evening All.
It`s ages since I`ve had the chance to join in at The Shabby Tea Room challenge but this weeks inspiration piccy is so fabulous I had to make time.
I actually made the card on tuesday but have only just found the time to post it. Using the photo for inspiration, we are asked to make a card using White and/or cream and silver with a slash of pink. Here is my entry,
A bit more than a splash of pink I`m afraid but I like it all the same.
I made an A6 white card. Cut a piece of Pink Petticoat Brocade DP to leave a quite wide border and matted it onto some silver mirri card.
I`ve seen a lot of bloggers using metal corners recently but I haven`t got any so I raked out the old peel offs and used those instead.
I made a bow out the palest pink ribbon and added some pink paper roses and a tag.
The sentiment on the tag is  Flourishes Tag Lines, stamped and embossed in detail silver EP and I`ve ran an embossing pad along the edges and added EP to those too.

Less is More wk 51....Cut it out

Hello All!
I hope I find you well. I`m very late with my entry for this weeks Less is More Challenge which, being theme week, we have been asked to make a card with some kind of hole or aperture in it. I`ll show you my card and then ( if you`re remotely interested lol) I`ll explain my lack of blogging and lateness.
Apologies for the wonky photo.
I had lots of ideas for this challenge but this is the only one that worked for me.
I made a 6x6 white card and printed the sentiment on the PC.Then I used my Marianne Designs leaf die to cut through the card front. I made an insert with some pale green paper which also acts as a backing for the leaf.
I used Marianne designs English Rose die for the rolled rose in pale pink paper.
That`s it. Very CAS and I hope the hole/aperture is right for the challenge.

It was my Dads 80th birthday on saturday and I`d planned a little get together/ party for him yesterday. Last week I decided that if I was going to have visitors I ought to decorate the living room. Big mistake!
Trying to paint after work is exhausting and seeing as it`s quite a small room anyway it meant shuffling furniture about and all the hassles that come with it.
It`s a livingroom/ diner and I got the living room part done but I ran out of time to do the diner. Looks a bit silly at the moment but at least it`s clean and fresh and does look tons better. I`m on leave from work this week so I`ll finish it then.
I went to see the birthday boy on saturday morning and then spent all afternoon party shopping. Sunday morning was taken up with cleaning and then preparing the food.
Dad knew he was coming for something to eat but thought it was just a sunday roast so he was really chuffed when he arrived to find all the family gathered. We had a lovely time, lots to eat and loads of laughs.
And after all that, no one noticed that I`d decorated!!!

Less is More wk 50...Birds

Hello All!
I hope I find you well and managing to stay warm in this decidedly chilly UK weather.
I can`t believe we are on wk 50 of Less is More Challenge. Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday I discovered a brand new challenge blog and thought I`d try my hand at CaS. I`ve learnt so much over the last year and made so many new blog friends and, I hope, I`ve improved on my card making skills too.
This week is One Layer week, one that put fear into many a heart not so long ago but most of us have embraced this genre and there have been some amazing entries. Chrissie and Mandi have asked us to make a OL card using birds as our theme, here is mine.
On my first attempt I made a mask and chalked the circle but it turned out pants so I cheated and did one on the computer and did the sentiment at the same time.
The owl is by Inkadinkado from the Birds Galore set stamped in Versafine Black and embossed with clear EP.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Oh Boy!

Hello All!
A quick post from me today. Our nephew and his partner have a baby boy due anytime now so I have a card in readiness.
I`ve used Pink Petticoat DP, gingham and pinstripes, both in Duck egg blue.
The lacy border is  Spellbinders Grand classic Lace.
I added a ribbon and made a loopy bow with a heart shaped gem
The sentiment is computer generated in Amazone font.
Three small gems in the bottom middle for balance and that`s it.
I love making elegant baby cards, so different to anything shop bought.

Less is More wk 49 take two

Wow! twice in one day.I haven`t managed that for a long time. Alan`s D.I.Y. ing downstairs so I`m keeping out of his way for a while lol.
So....I thought I`d have another go at this weeks Less is More Challenge.
You will be forgiven for thinking I`d gone into a purple haze with this one. NOT my usual style but I think it`s growing on me.
Really quick and simple, this one. Dark purple corrigated card cut to make 5x5 base.
12x12 paper, from Papermania I think, punched with an MS punch, cut to size and scored to make a concertina.
Sentiment is computer generated and cut out with a nestie circle.
Simples!

Right, I`m off to see the mess Alan has created and cook the Sunday roast. I`ll be round to see you all later if I can tear myself away from Dancing on Ice and Louie Spence doesn`t drive me to distraction.

Less is More wk 49

Hello All!
I hope I find you all healthy and happy.
After another busy weekend playing catchup I finally found sometime to get in the craft room to play along with the fabulous Less is More Challenge. Being the first saturday of the month it is a colour challenge this week,

                                                          Predominantly Purple
As purple, or more usually lilac, is a colour I use quite often,I was pleasantly chuffed when I logged on.
Here is my card,
This is my second attempt. The first one I made using the same stamp (Papertrey Inc Fancy Flourishes) in white on a deep purple card but it was so pants I didn`t bother taking a piccy.
I simply stamped the image in Heliotrope by Versacolor and embossed using Lilac heat it up EP.
The sentiment is stamped and embossed the same but using 2 stamp sets, Best is from Layers of Color Happy Wishes set and Wishes is Waltzing Mouse Say it Loud Winter Wishes set.
I`ve added some lilac flat back pearls to finish.
Tried a ribbon on it but didn`t like it so there you have it Clean and Simple, just like me lol.

I do have an idea for another card, time allowing so watch this space.

St Lukes Charity Card Challenge...January

Happy New Year to You All!

I might be a bit late but better late than never eh? Now that all the festivities are over and we are getting back to some sort of normality it`s time for a brand new challenge at St Lukes Charity Card Challenge.
The title of the challenge is...New Year, New Start and we want you to give a new lease of life to anything old and tired and destined for the bin. This could also be something you`ve retrieved from a chistmas present, ribbons, paper, gems. Just recycle it and turn it into something magical.
We have another fabulous prize to give away to our outright winner this month,
this fabulous yellow Ribbon Girl kit. I would give my right arm for a kit like this, isn`t it just gorgeous?
Anyway, enough drooling, onto my make for the challenge.
I fancied a bit of vintage with this one. Although I must admit not everything is truely recycled, nothing on the card is new.
The image is one I printed off my Microsoft Greetings cd months ago and never used.
The beaded oval behind the image is actually the thin card stiffener from a roll of wrapping paper.
The Doily I rescued from a party ages ago.
DP and lace are both snippets so don`t really count but they have reduced my pile by a micro dot lol.
The ribbon and bow came on a present my daughter recieved which she saved for me. ( I have them all well trained).
Paper rose is from another card that I made a long time ago and didn`t like, so another rescue and the tag is from the wrapping paper stiffener too.
Just goes to show what you can use when you put your mind to it and if I had a bit more imagination I`m sure I could have saved all sorts from the recycle bin.

Please pop over to the main blog and check out the other DT designs, you won`t be disappointed. Also don`t forget that you can donate any cards you make to this very worthy cause. Thank you.
