Baby Banners

Hi All.
I hope you are well. The weather here is very springlike at the moment. I doubt it`ll last but it`s really nice to see some sun.

One of the girls at work had a baby girl last friday so ofcourse I had to make her a card.

Sorry for the rubbish photo.
I made a 6x4 card then made a panel slightly smaller and scored the diamond pattern with my scoreboard.
I made the little banners from scraps of DP by cutting strips, folding them in half and the cutting the fishtails using the corner of a square nestie. I hung them over some pink twine then stuck the two sides together.
I`ve added some flat back pearls to the crossover on the scoring. The sentiment is computer generated, the frame is Waltzing Mouse Vintage labels, stamped in orchid Versacolor then cut out with a labels 4 nestie.

As the banner is made from snippets I`m entering this one into Pixies Crafty Snippets # 61
Now that the sun is shining I hope I can spend some time in the playground. I want to seesaw with Darnell.

Simply Less is More # 108

Good afternoon all. I hope I find you well and keeping warm this february day.

This weeks challenge at Simply Less is More is PAPER PIERCING.
Not something I do a lot of but nice and easy once you come up with an idea. I`ve actually made my card and it`s still saturday. ..I know...I`m in shock too.
I usually go to see dad on a saturday morning but he`s off gallivanting at the moment. He and my uncle are on a cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii and visiting Pearl Harbour. Lucky things.
Anyway, onto my card,

Really quick and simple. The Honeycomb DP and the image are both from Pink Petticoat.
The swirly tail is pierced but it`s difficult to see in the pic

so I took a photo of the back of the image before adding a foam pad.
The Bee is coloured with a Promarker and some Glamour Dust added to his wings.
And that`s it, quick, clean and simple.

I got an order this week for eight cards so I`d better get a wriggle on.

Pixies crafty snippets wk # 60

Hello All!

It`s ages since I`ve joined in with Di and the gang in the playground at Pixies crafty snippets and last week I had the chance to make some cards for the fundraising box. As all the DP and the flowers are from my snippets box I thought I`d grab the opportunity to join in the fun for a change.

They are all the same basic design but I`ve played with different embossing folders and lace.
The sentiments are all computer generated except the pink one which is a stamp by Paula Pascual.
Hopefully, now my mojo has stopped sulking, I`ll join in a bit more often.

Less is More # 107

Good afternoon and a happy sunday to you all.

The challenge this week at Simply Less is More is called UP IN THE AIR.

Chrissie and Jen want to see hotair balloons, airplanes, rockets etc. I must admit to quite a struggle (again) for two reasons. Firstly I haven`t got a great deal in the way of air type stamps and secondly because I`m suffering with Sciatica at the moment so am finding it hard to sit for long and can`t bend very well either.
Anyway enough of me moaning, here is what I came up with.

Not alot of `white space` on this one I`m afraid.
The rocket is a digi by Digistamp Boutique coloured with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens and fussy cut.
The sentiment is computer generated and cut out with a nestie circle die then trimmed.
A few peel off stars to finish.
With hindsight there is a lot I should have done differently with this one. I resized the rocket and I feel I`ve made it too small and the sentiment should have been lower down on the circle. I`ll know better next time.

Ruby is still wallowing in the glory of fame after last weeks excitment. On tuesday the local paper printed a two page spread about Callies haircut and Ruby and her illness was mentioned a lot. It was a fabulous article with lots more super pics. The whole thing has spurred us on to make a start on some serious fundraising so as soon as I feel up to it I`ll be mass producing cards again :-)

Less is More # 106 and a story of a truly beautiful little girl.

Good Afternoon and a happy sunday to you all. I hope you are enjoying your weekend and that yours is not whizzing past as quickly as mine is. I really don`t know where the time goes.
Anyway, the challenge this week at Simply Less is More is a one layer card incorporating MUSIC.
We also have some bad news but some good news too. Sadly Mandi has decided to leave the team to concentrate on her wedding shop. She will be sadly missed but I`m sure she`ll pop in from time to time and let us know how things are going. The good news is that Jen has agreed to stay on as a permanant DT. I love Jens designs and get a lot of inspiration from her.

I really struggled this week. I have a lovely music notes stamp that I wanted to use but after two failed attempts at masking and stamping I gave up and had to resort to a computer generated image. Certainly not one of my better efforts but I`m running out of time.

The image started out as a sheet of music which I digitally cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter on Microsoft Greetings.
The sentiment is also computer generated using Amazone font
I`m not at all happy with this card and if I get time during the week I`ll make a `proper` card.

It`s almost a year since Ruby was diagnosed with cancer (15th feb) and I`m still amazed at the amount of positives that have come from such a devastating time.
Some time ago Ruby`s mum Cheryl made `friends` with a girl she used to go to school with, on facebook.
When she heard about Ruby, Sara told her daughter Callie about it and, having lost a family member to cancer not long ago, Callie wanted to do something worthwhile to raise funds.
Callie is 10 years old but obviously has the heart of a much older girl as she decided to have her long hair cut and to donate it to the Little Princess Trust where they make wigs for children with cancer. Not only that but has spread the word to raise the £350 it costs to have one wig made up. To date she has raised £376 on Just Giving alone, that`s without the pledges that still have to be received.
When Callie decided that this was what she wanted to do, her Mum Sara sent e mails to some of the hair salons in Hull asking if they would be prepared to do it and she got a reply from Alexander Turnbull who is an award winning hairdresser and is stylist  to quite a few celebrities. Alex agreed to do it and also got the publicity machine going.
Callie had her hair cut yesterday and our local paper Hull Daily Mail and Regional Television News Team Calender were also there. Cheryl and Ruby were invited and they were all treated to a fabulous morning with both little girls getting their nails done. Ruby apparently was a bit shy to begin with but soon turned into a proper little diva.
We were told that the Calender story would probably go out either saturday or sunday depending on other news so we were all taken by surprise when it was actually broadcast last night. Luckily I remembered to record it.

This is Callie before the haircut. All plaited up ready to be chopped off..
This Callie and Ruby together after the haircut. Callie was lovely with Ruby, so natural.
And this one is Ruby the Diva waiting to have her nails painted.
I am such a proud Mum and Grandma and so in awe of the beautiful Callie. I`m still beaming.

Happy Birthday Elaine

Hello All!
I hope you are well and are enjoying your week so far. I have a quick post today with a card I made for a work colleague who has a birthday next week.

A really quick card to make as I wanted it quite simple.
I`ve used white Linen card from Papermill Direct and made a 6x6 top fold card. I added some DP from Pink Petticoat called Quatrofoil in Pretty Pink ( old palette).
I then stamped my flower from Papermania in Versacolor Orchid before cutting the panel to size.
The sentiment is from a Stampman set, stamped over the image in Versacolor Magenta.
I`ve added some liquid pearls to finish.

Happy Birthday Less is More

Hello there, happy sunday to you all.

It`s two whole years since Mandi and Chrissie began the Simply Less is More challenge and, although I have missed 2 or 3 weeks I always try to join in. It is my `go to` challenge and I`d like to wish Chrissie, Mandie and ofcourse Jen, a very happy anniversary and may there be many more.

It`s colour week this week and the chosen colours are;

                                                     Kraft and Cream.

I`ve used a fine ribbed cream base card and used a piece of the same card to cut out the Chloe Stem from Memory Box.
I made a panel using Kraft card and cut another Chloe stem, then inlaid the cream stem into the space left in the Kraft using another piece of kraft to back the panel.
I added a sentiment from TSG and some Waco Pearl Maker to the flower, finishing off with some plain string.

I have a confession to make...
Now promise you won`t fall out with me...
I don`t like Kraft!
There, I`ve said it.
I`ve seen some marvelous creations done with kraft card and I know alot of you absolutely love it but I just cannot take to it at all. It reminds me of all the millions of cardboard boxes I`ve had to unpack at work over the years and those boring parcels wrapped neatly in brown paper and string when I was a kid. Sorry!
Anyway, it`s out now and feel so much better for confessing hee hee.

Back to work tomorrow :-(
