Less is More # 91 x2

Good Evening All.
A really quick post from me as it`s dark and cold up here in the loft.

This is my second entry for this weeks challenge at Simply Less is More . This time it`s a bit more true to the sketch.
I`ve used a cream hammered base card.
I cut a strip of the same card and sponged it with DI in Antique Linen and Shabby Shutters then ran along the edges with Versacolor Brown.
I stamped the branches from Inkadinkado first then the Bullrushes in Versafine Onyx. I got the bullrush stamp at the papercraft show on sunday but there`s no name on it.
I then measured and cut the strip into 3 tiles and placed it on the card using foam pads.
I finished the image off with some Liquid Pearls on the bullrushes and the leaves.
The sentiment is by Flourishes also stamped in Versafine Onyx.

Less is More # 91

Good Evening All!

Well we were rudely awakened at about 2:00 am by hail and sleet pelting the bedroom window this morning. After snuggling further under the duvet and going swiftly back to sleep I awoke at a normal hour to find my world transformed. White slippery stuff everywhere. The walk to my dads was pretty treacherous especially as part of it is uphill. It keeps having a go too although it`s more sleet than anything else.
And it`s only October. What happened to autumn? Brrr.

I`d like to welcome two new followers, Andrei and Leslie. Thank you for choosing my blog to follow.

Right, on to this weeks challenge at Simply Less is More. We have a sketch this week. Haven`t had many of those,
I had an idea in my head all morning but when I actually made the card it is nothing like I imagined it to be.

Cream hammered card cut to 6x6 square.
I made a frame from brown card and cut 3 apertures using nested squares.
I stamped the leaf ( PTI Turning a New Leaf) in Memento Olive into each of the apertures.
The sentiment is Layers of Color stamped in Versafine Onyx.
I made the flowers from some yellow paper using a daisy punch and a hole punch and brown card for the middles. They are supposed to look a bit Sunflowery-ish.
Not too sure about this one so might have another go later.
Apoligies for the rubbish pic. I`ve tweaked and edited it so much but can`t get it better than it is.

Just a quick note about Ruby.
She has the chicken pox. Poor little love, she was transfered from Hull Royal to Leeds general yesterday evening and is now in isolation. Last night she was given a blood transfusion and is on IV anti biotics and anti virals. Obviously with all the treatment she`s been having they have to keep a special eye on her but at the moment she`s ok. Not well at all but ok.
What a way to spend half term eh.

I`ll keep you up to date with whats happening. Tomorrow there`s another Ross Papercraft Show in Hull so as long as I`m not snowed in, I shall be popping along. Hopefully I`ll get some new goodies and might get inspired to start on some Christmas cards :-))

More Man Cards

Good Afternoon All!

As promised earlier in the week here is another selection of man cards,

All made with papers and toppers from Pink Petticoat Big Fella collection.
Clean, simple and does exactly what it says on the tin card. Something for just about every man in your life.

Hopefully my mojo will return soon and I`ll get around to making something just a bit more artistic ;-))

Man cards

Good Morning All!
I hope you are all well and not feeling the monday morning blues :-(

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was short of man cards. Well it`s taken me long enough to get into the swing but I managed to make a few.

For this one I used cream hammered card for the case and some burgundy leather look card for the panel.
The letters are cut out using Die_namics Alphabet and the star is a X Cut nested star, all cut out of gold mirri and embossed with a Cuttlebug EF Candy canes.
The sentiment is PC generated.
This one is on a white card base with DP from Pink Petticoat His Papers.
The letters and star as above but in silver and embossed with Swiss Dots folder.
This one is also a cream base card with a green panel embossed with the Candy Cane folder.
The letters and star are made using brown card and the Swiss Dots folder.

Not earth shattering in their design I know but in my experience men prefer CaS.

I have another batch to show later in the week.

Cas_ual Fridays # 75

This is my second post today. Just scroll down for my Less is More card.

Hello Again!

I don`t often get the chance to join in at Cas_ual Fridays Challenge  but I needed two cards for girls at work who both have birthdays on the same day. The challenge this week is OFF THE EDGE so gave me just the inspiration I needed.

I seem to have a `thing` about stars and banners just lately. They are so versatile tho` so expect to see some more pretty soon ;-)
Really simple cards to make.
A6 card base using white linen card.
The stars for both cards are made using scraps of DP from Papermania and some smaller ones of silver and gold mirri card, cut out using X Cut nested stars.
The sentiments are computer generated and the fish tails are made using a corner of a square nestie.
I`ve added a few gems to finish.

I`ve been looking at the new stamps they have for sale at cas-ual fridays too and they are fab. My wish list to Santa is getting longer by the minute ;-)

Less is More # 90

Good Morning All!

Yuk! A really foggy, damp and miserable day today, and freezing too so I`ll make this a quick one ( must get some proper heating in the loft).

It`s theme week at Simply Less is More and this time the theme is AUTUMN.
Apart from the cold it has to be my favourite time of the year. I adore autumnal colours, the greens, golds, oranges and reds and tend to use them througout the year especially in home decor.
Anyway, onto my card.

Like Chrissie, I am in awe of Birgit`s
designs. Unfortunately I haven`t got her flair for design but I have stolen borrowed a design element that she uses with the frame.
I started with a 5x5 card base in white linen card and masked off a square in the centre.
I stamped the sunflower from Flourishes, then made a mask before inking the square with Versacolor Sand, Marigold, Orange and Magenta inks.
I removed the masks and coloured the Sunflower with Promarkers.
The frame is made using two nested square dies and raised on foam pads.
The sentiment is computer generated.
It`s my SiL`s birthday this week so I`ve taken advantage of the challenge to make her card.

This week has simply flown by, I really don`t know where the time has gone. I`ve had the beginnings of a cold hanging about for days which still hasn`t come to anything and I`ve been really tired. Hopefully this next week will see things improving and make more of an effort to get around to see you all.

Less is More # 89 take 2

Hi,

I`m back with my second entry for this weeks Simply Less is More challenge with the theme of
                                                     WINGS

Once again I`ve used white linen card.
I scored a couple of lines along the bottom of the card and stamped an Owl from Inkadinkado in Versacolor
Orchid, Lime and Orange.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts.
A bit different to my last offering and loads of white space.

Autumnal Butterflies

Good Morning All!

It`s One Layer week again over at Simply Less is More and this time the theme is WINGS.

I`ve taken the easy option and gone with butterflies.

I`ve used white linen card and embossed a rectangle using a nestie.
I stamped the butterflies (Elusive Images) onto the rectangle then masked off the butterflies and around the rectangle before inking with Versacolor Sand all over then Versacolor  Brown around the edges.
The image is coloured with Promarkers in autumn colours.
The sentiment is from There She Goes which was a gift from my lovely blog friend Tara ( Thanks Tara)

Although one layer cards don`t hold the fear they once did for me, I`ve come to the conclusion that mine are getting much of a muchness so I might have another go with something a bit different.

Happy Birthday Latasha

Good afternoon all!

When I was at the fundraising event a couple of weeks ago I was asked by one of the Mums to make a couple of cards for her daughters 13th birthday.
I always like to get as much information as possible when making cards for people I don`t know but all I was told was that she`s stroppy and likes pink. Oh, and no flowers...Arghhh!
Anyway here is what I came up with.

I used an image from Mo`s Digital Pencil called " I Dunno" because I thought she looked suitably stroppy.
The first paper is from a `Me to you` pad and the hearts are from a download but I can`t remember where from.
The number 13 is from Poundland (where else lol) and I punched a couple of butterflies using a MS punch.
The sentiment is computer generated and punched with a Woodware heart punch. I`ve added some glitter to the edges.
The second card is for Latasha`s younger sisters to give her and is my favourite of the two.
Backing papers are again from a `Me to you` pad and the Teddy is a die cut that came with the pad.
I used my Die-Namics alpha to cut out the letters and raised them on foam pads.
The stars are made using X Cut nested stars dies and pink mirri card and then embossed with Swiss Dots folder. They are the same shade of pink, it`s my rubbish photography that makes them look different.
Sentiment is computer generated.

Today is the first chance I`ve had to get into the craft room since sunday. It`s been manic at work and I`m just so tired. I hope to have something to show you in the very near future though :-)

Less is More Silver 2nd entry

Good Afternoon and a happy sunday to you all.

Thisis my second attempt at this weeks colour challenge at Simply Less is More which is to use SILVER in our creations.
This time I`ve not done any stamping.
I ran a panel through the CB using a snowflake EF then matted it onto some silver mirri card.
I made the word using Die-namics alphabet set from silver mirri and then ran them through the CB with Swiss Dots folder.
I placed the letters using foam pads to give some definition and glittered some of the embossed snowflakes with Glamour Dust. They look fab IRL but don`t show up well in the photo.
I apologise for the reflection but no matter what I tried I couldn`t get a pic without it. I don`t even know what is reflecting but it makes the silver look gold :-(

Less is More # 88

Hello and a happy saturday to you all.

The first saturday of the month is a colour challenge at Simply Less is More and this weeks colour is
                                                           Silver
My first thought was Christmas so thats what I`ve gone with. I do, however, have another idea so I might be back with a second post sometime this week.
I made a 5x5 square card and then cut another square slightly smaller for my panel.
I used Papermania Silent Night stamp set for the sentiment and two different sets from Inkadinkado for the snowflakes.
I made up my own sparkly embossing powder by mixing some detail silver EP with a small amount of silver glitter and embossed the stamping.
A close up of the sparkly silver. It looks much better IRL.
I added some clear gems and thats it.
I think I might have been better matting the panel onto some silver mirri card, what do you think?

It`s been a mega busy week at work so I haven`t had much spare time this week but I do have a couple of cards to show you later in the week.
I did want to let you know how we got on at last weeks MacMillan fundraiser though. Altogether the school raised a massive £ 474. I am over the moon and so grateful to the staff and parents for making this a wonderful event. The money is to be shared equally between Macmillan and Candlelighters. Yippee!

St Lukes October Challenge

Good Morning and a Happy Monday to you all.

It`s the first of the month and that means a brand new challenge at St Lukes Charity Card Challenge.

This month we want your Christmas cards. Not just any Christmas cards though...
We want  Clean & Simple with lots of clear space.Think modern, graphic and definitely less is more.
For my card I`ve used the corner stamp from Elusive Images ( Chocolate Baroque) Christmas Flourish set,
stamped in clear ink and embossed in Evergreen EP. I`ve added some red gems for the berries.
I used my Die-namics alphabet set with paper from Teresa Collins for the NOEL raised on foam pads.
Really easy and so quick to do.
Please check out the rest of the DT creations and don`t forget, you can donate your card to this very worthy cause. Details on the main blog.
