Less is More #57

Hello All!
A proper miserable and very wet March day today. Mind you after the mild winter we really do need the rain (honestly) and what better excuse for staying in and crafting.
It`s week 57 at Simply Less is More, and as it`s the first challenge of the month, it`s a colour challenge. This week we are to use, NEUTRALS.
We are in the (very slow) process of changing our home decor from totally neutral and adding a bit of colour so I`m heartily sick of beiges and browns but hey ho this is a card...it`s different.
Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card this weekend, my daughter in laws grandma died suddenly on thursday, so I`m using the challenge for a card to send to the family.
I made two, similar cards and can`t decide which one to send. I might let you make my mind up for me.
I used Pink Petticoats Harlequin in Smoke, cropped and printed directly onto the card and added a computer generated sentiment.
The stamp is hero Arts Elegant Weeds stamped inVersafine Onyx black.
The base card is slightly off white.
The second card uses the same elements but the PP Harlequin is in Mocha and the stamp is inked in Whispers Chestnut. The base card is Ivory Hammered from The Papermill.

A quick Ruby update,
Ruby had a blood transfusion last monday as she is very aneamic (probably spelt wrong) but it is nothing to worry about, and she came home on Tuesday. She`s coping brilliantly with the chemo at the moment and is back to her cheeky self and is getting spoiled rotten. Yesterday her Mum& Dad took her to the park to feed the ducks and she had a great time just being out in the fresh air.
At the moment she`s doing everything the doctors predicted but she has another dose of chemo tomorrow, this time with more drugs added and we have been warned that that`s probably when her hair is likely to start falling out. Luckily I think she`s too young to let it bother her too much.
My middle one Angie, was always the tom boy of the family and often got mistaken for a boy when she was younger, still does come to think of it sometimes lol. I used to call her my inbetweenie.
With that in mind, and because she`s not at all bothered what anyone else thinks, Angie is organising a sponsored head shave to raise funds for the Candlelighters appeal. Photographs will be posted.

Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx

  5. Hola Lynne, thank you very much for your comment, I certainly appreciate that, because in this moment you are very busy and concentrated in Ruby, i'm glad to read the good news, in spain the little girls put in yours heads a very funny and bright headscarf, with flowers, bees... in Spain the campaign against cancer is with a pink headscarf, to much women and girls bought these headscarf, my aunt had breast cancer and i have this headscarf, sorry about my suggestion, but i think to much people are thinking about ideas for raise funds.

Your cards are fantastic CAS cards, i think the first one is more sober for this sad moment.

  13. Hi Lynne,
Your cards are lovely, my preference for a sympathy card is the first one. I have just noticed your appeal for Ruby and on reading through now realise she is your grandaughter. As a granny myself my heart goes out to you, I cannot begin to imagine what you all must be going through and Ruby is such a beautiful little girl. Life just isn't fair sometimes. Am off to get the credit card, only a small donation as unfortunately I do not have a lot of spare money but I suppose every little helps.

  15. Glad Ruby is managing to enjoy some time outside.

Both cards a perfect for their purpose - personally I prefer the first but mostly as the colours remind me of chocolate and I'm much more of a dark than a milk girl!

  38. Congrats on your win at LIM! I'm glad Ruby is doing well. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family :)

Gorgeous cards too, though I prefer the first one. So sorry to hear of your loss.

Do you have a 'sponsorship page' or a Just Giving page for the sponsored head shave? I'm sure many of the LIMettes (and others) would help the fund by sponsoring Angie...I know I will, however little it may be.
    Hugs to you all,
    Lizy xx

  41. Two gorgeous cards, the second one has more 'warmth' to it and I like the texture but the first one really stands out with the dark colour. Sorry can't choose between them.

Oh and congratulations on your win at LIM, you certainly deserve it your cards are always stunning.

  42. Congrats on your LIM win. Of course, there are more important things than card designs in life. I wish your family well at this tough time.

Oooh, and great idea from Lizy about Angie's head shave being sponsored too! I just bet the snippets gang would want to be involved - err, I promise not to send Mrs A round with the shaver though. That girl can't even be trusted on a pogo stick!!!

Big hug, so pleased you won!
