Mojo Monday #175

Hello Folks.

Yes I know it`s friday but I`ve been trying to make and post my entry for this weeks Mojo Monday since tuesday, work and life just keep getting in the way.
Here is the sketch we were given,

And here is my entry,
Sorry about the photo, the card I`ve used for the Lace border looks like a browny burgundy on here but IRL it`s quite purple and alot closer in colour to the bow.
I`ve used some of the new Shabby Princess papers that I got on Saturday and used on my previous post.
The border is Spellbinders Grand Classic Lace and the border around my sentiment is a nestie scallop circle.
I made my own pin by using some extra large dressmakers pins and added some irridescent (?) pearls.

Here is a closer look at the pin. Not as good as a bought one I know but not bad for first attempt.
My sentiment is by Papertrey.

I`ve had a really stressful week at work, to the point that I very nearly walked out at one point but I`m sure you don`t want to hear me moaning on.

I really am having one of those weeks. I`ve just tried downloading my card onto the Mojo Monday site and Mr Linky isn`t having any of it. I`m off now to bang my head against the wall!!!
Done it!!!!

New Papers

Hello Folks.

Happy tuesday to you all.

Last saturday, while the Alans were listening to City`s away match on the radio, I thought I`d sneak upstairs and do some browsing on the pc. The downside to that is that I always end up spending money but the upside is that I find things that I just have to have.
Since I had plenty of time I thought I`d take a peek at The Shabby Princess shop
to see what goodies they had on offer. They are a digital scrapbook site but their papers can easily be adapted for cards and I already have loads. I came across a collection called Sprout of all things but the name doesn`t do it justice. The papers are gorgeous and the decorative elements are lovely too so when I finally get around to starting to scrapbook I already have some elements to go at.
Naturally I downloaded that one and another that took my fancy too and here is the card I made using just 2 of the papers. It`s not for any challenges or anything in particular, just to show off with.
Because the papers are so gorgeous I haven`t added any embellishments except a big blousy bow in Ivory and a sentiment.
The sentiment is Flourishes Tag Lines, stamped in black Memento ink and cut out with a nestie labels 4 die. While the card was still in the die, I chalked around the edges with some brown chalk.

Colour Throwdown #125 & some advice please

Hi All! Happy Saturday to you.

I`ll show you my entry for this weeks Colour Throwdown first then I`ll ask for your advice later.

This is the colour combo we were given,

And here is my card,
I`ve used Pink Petticoat DP from the Lola Rose collection in Gold as it prints quite like kraft.
The pink card is from my stash which I buy from Papermill Direct and I think is a good match for the pink in the swatch. The green card was the problem so I`ve gone with card that matched my ribbon.
I`ve used Spellbinders scalloped edge die along the bottom edge of each.
I made a bow and left long tails which I`ve wrapped around the card.
The sentiment is by Anita`s stamps and is stamped in black Memento on white, cut out with a nestie labels 4 die and mounted, with foam pads onto a larger labels 4 in pink.

Now onto my quest for advice. Quite often these colour challenges use stampin` up colours. Although I`ve not got any stampin up at all I can usually find a close colour match with what I have in my stash and I have downloaded a colour chart from Vicky`s blog
printed it off and stuck it on the wall. My problem is that sometimes the colours used are not on the chart and I have trouble deciding what shade they are. The most common is Pear Pizzazz but Blushing Bride is a new one on me. Are they old colours? or new ones not available in the UK or what? Please help!!!

Play Date Cafe # 65

Hello!
It`s friday which is normally cause for celebration but this week it just means that it`s getting nearer and nearer to the end of my unexpected break from work. Can anyone tell that I`d much rather be home than at work? Lol.

Here is the inspiration for this weeks challenge at The Play Date Cafe

Ofcourse at the first glance of orange I knew I had to take part. I managed to curb my enthusiasm a little bit and not go over the top with the colours.
Here is my card,
As you can see I gone for orange as my main colour.
The spotty DP is Pink Petticoat Dots in smoke.
I`ve scored the bottom of the card to give it some texture.
Some bright orange ribbon and a bow for that feminine touch.
The image is Papertrey Turning a new leaf stamp set stamped in Versa Color Fresh Green and cut out with a nestie circle and mounted onto a Lacey Circle in orange and raised on foam pads.
I`ve added 1 orange punched butterfly onto the leaves and another in the left corner.
The sentment is Flourishes Tag Lines stamped in versa color Orange.

Well thats it from me for today, I really should be getting on with the rest of the wedding invitations.

You light up my life.

Hello folks!

Todays card is another one that seemed perfect in the planning stage ( inside my head) but in reality is somehow not quite right. I think, with hindsight, it would have been better done in landscape, so I might have another go at it later.
Anyway here is the card, let me know what you think.

I`m entering it in 3 Challenges,
Picture Perfect Creations who ask for Heat/ Dry embossing.
The Shabby Tea Room #45  which is called White and Bright, with instructions to use white with a splash of another colour and this piccy for inspiration,

And Our Creative Corner
who gave us this sketch,  called `Lets play dress up` and asked us to simply dress up the sketch..

I`ve used the OCC sketch as my base and used a circle instead of the oval.
I ran some white card through the Cuttlebug using the Swirls folder then matted it onto some hot pinkcard.
I made a border using the Spellbinders Grand Classic Lace die, also in hot pink.
The image is from the Papermania Chatsworth Collection stamped in Memento Rose Bud, cut out with a circle die and mounted onto a Lacey Circle in pink.
The sentiment is computer generated, also cut out in a circle and mounted onto a Lacey Circle.
I made the flower in the same hot pink card and added a pink sparkle brad.
Some pink gems on the image for a bit of bling to finish.

Wedding invitations

Hi All!
No card today as such but I thought I`d share the finished Wedding Invitation with you.

Once I got started it was relatively easy to do. Luckily I got the measurements from Jak Heaths Blog
which was a great help. Thanks Jak.
The design is a hybrid of some that Karen .
showed us on her blog.
I`ve used the Birds and Vine Cuttlebug folder for the main flap. Added some tiny gems and a red bow.
The initials on the label stand for Alan and Rachel and is done on the computer.
I had about 6 designs originally and Rachel and her Mum wittled it down to this one. Originally I`d put white pearls and white ribbon on but the bridesmaids dresses have now been bought and are in red so we changed the ribbon colour then Rachel mentioned how much she loved Diamantes so, after a bit of discussion the pearls were changed for tiny clear gems. We are all really pleased with the way they`ve turned out especially as I found it quite daunting at first, I mean hundreds of people are going to be looking at these!!!

A quick tip for anyone thinking of doing something like this; Give yourself plenty of time, trying to do them all in one go is like working on a production line and soon becomes a chore. I found that limiting myself to doing  them in blocks of 10 is much more rewarding. I measured 10 lots of card first, then 10 lots of scoring and folding, followed by the embossing. By the time you`ve done that you`re ready to start from the beginning again with the next lot.
Right I`ve done 20. Only another 80 to go lol.

Well I`m supposed to be at work but my silly manager made a mistake and thought I`d booked 2 weeks off.
I did yesterday because I`d gone in anyway and decided I might as well have the rest of the week off seeing as they`d covered for me. Yayyy!!!!

Another masculine card.

Good morning and a happy monday to you all!

This is the last of the cards I made during my time off work, this time for my Dads birthday which is on friday.
I think it`s another `grown up` sort of card for a man who definitely doesn`t do teddies (thanks Katina)

I`ve used the new Papermania Blueberry Pie DP`s which are absolutely gorgeous and the pad is crammed full of the most fantastic warm blue papers.
I`ve used a bright blue base card and made a small border between the two DP`s.
The stamp is from Inkadinkado Delicate Branches set stamped in black stazon and matted onto bright blue card, then raised with foam pads.
The sentiment is computer generated.

Although my mojo is in full swing at the moment I have a feeling that getting back into the swing of things at work might take it`s toll and I also have Wedding Invitations to make. I`m hoping I can get some cards done too but we`ll have to see.

21st Birthday Card

Hello all. Well it`s Sunday and the last day of my hols :(   I really would like at least another week off but duty calls. In the mean time I have a card to share.
One of my old workmates called into the shop last week to ask me to make a card for her daughters 21st. I have been making cards for Nichola since her 16th and can`t quite believe that she is going to be 21 next month. Nichola is strongly into the music scene and has taken part in many local talent shows so the card had to have a music theme. I didn`t want it to be all about music though, after all we are only 21 once and I wanted something definitely girlie. This is what I came up with, what do you think?

I`ve gone for lots of pink but some black too as I think it gives it more of a grown up, sassy, sexy feel.

The DP is Pink Petticoat Lola Rose Black and Pink
( now retired I think).
I`ve used a MS Doily punch along the bottom edge and added some black card and some hot pink card also punched.
The image is Inkadinkado Rock Star stamped in Memento Rose Bud on white card matted onto hot pink.
The sentiment is computer generated so I could add Nichola`s name and is cut out with a nestie circle die.
I`ve added a hot pink ribbon and bow for more girlyness and a silver glittered 21 sticker.

I hope it gets her Mums approval first if not I will be posting a second choice any time soon ha ha.

Male Birthday card

Happy Saturday!

I hope you`re all enjoying the weekend. I`m trying to cram in as much as possible before returning to work on Monday :(

It will be my middle brothers 50th birthday on Monday so ofcourse that meant a card. Now you all know how much I struggle with male cards but quite a while ago I saw an Inkadinkado Stamp set called Delicate Branches which I think is perfect for masculine cards. Could I find it anywhere in the UK? No!
Then the other day I was tidying up my PC, y`know deleting stuff I didn`t use, uninstalling things that I didn`t want anymore just to make it work a bit faster. I decided while I was at it to go through my bookmarks ( I bookmark everything `just in case` ) when I came across a site called That`s Crafty. Thought I`d take a look and lo and behold, Delicate Branches. Naturally I ordered it, along with some other bits that took my fancy and it arrived in no time. Just in time for Bro`s card :)

So, without further ado, here is my card for today.

I used Papermainia Capsule Collection Green for the DP. I think it`s very masculine.
I added a border in dark green card, punched with a scallop punch.
The image, by Inkadinkado is stamped in Stazon black and matted onto some dark green card.
The sentiment is computer generated because I wanted to put Bro`s name on it.

I just know it won`t be long before I`m using this stamp set for more cards.

TSTR Sketch

These cards are like buses,

you wait for ages then they all come at once lol.
This is my second post, please scroll down for some other challenges.
The team at The Shabby Tea Room  have given us a sketch to play with this week.

As I have just been craft shopping and treated myself to some new stamps I thought I`d use one of them to play along.
I dug out my gorgeous Papermania Blueberry Hill papers again ( I really should have got 2 packs) and just went to town with it.
I matted the scrummy blue with pink roses onto baby pink card.
I made a panel with the pink on pink and used my Martha stewart doily punch along both long sides.
The birdcage stamp is Papermania Chatsworth collection and is stamped in Memento Rose Bud.
The little Smile sentiment is by Flourishes.
I used the same pink on pink to cut the border with my Spellbinders Classic Lace Border.
Then finished off with some gorgeous flowers from my stash.

At Last...

A card to show you!

I had hoped to have something to share earlier in the week but, hey ho, that`s life.

I made this card for 3 challenges

The first one is new to me, Colour Q which has this gorgeous colour palette.
Another is Moxie fabs Tuesday Trigger
with this lovely inspiration,

And last but by no means least is Our Creative Corner
with this piccy and the choice of birds, berries or colour.
With all the miserable January weather we`ve been having I was in desperate need of some colour in my life so this seemed a good idea at the time. I have to admit I`m not so sure now. I think it`s the pink and orange together that just doesn`t sit well with me.
Whatever, it`s done now and will be entered.

I`ve used Pink Petticoat DP in Sassy Pink matted onto some bright blue card.
I`ve added some Organza ribbon in a Pear shade of green.
The Stamp is by Inkadinkado Birds Galore set Stamped in Bahama Blue.
I`ve added some tiny pink gems to represent berries and cut out with a nestie circle die.
I`ve cut out 2 Spellbinders Lacey circles in orange card and offset them one on top of the other.

Well my week off work is almost over and I really haven`t got a great deal to show for it. Alan has been on nights all week so I`ve not been able to get on with much. I`ve spent most of my time creeping about trying not to wake him. I have had time to visit friends and family though so it hasn`t been wasted and I do have more cards to post later.

White on White

Good afternoon all,

I hope I find you all well and in good spirits. I`m in a particularly good mood today as I`m on holiday from work from next monday for a week. I can`t wait.

I`m managing so far to join in a few challenges this week and the Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab World  is one I couldn`t resist. This is the photo inspiration ,
Wow! you really wouldn`t want to eat that cake now would you? You would have to have it on show, like forever lol.
Good job I`m never likely to get one then. It is, however, perfect for inspirational card making purposes.
Here is my take on it,

I realise that the cake looks as if it`s been antiqued but I decided to go with white on white.

It turned out to be one of those cards that just fell into place. It doesn`t happen very often to me so when it does I heave a great sigh of relief.

I`ve used the same white card stock for everything as it`s surprising how many different shades of white there are.
I made a panel slightly smaller than my base card and used the Birds and Vine cuttlebug folder to emboss it.
I placed it on my card using foam tape to give it some dimension.
I made the flower using Spellbinders Scalloped circles die and a plain gem brad.
The sentiment is by Joanna Sheen, stamped and embossed in detail silver, then cut out with a Spellbinders Labels 4 die.
I used my Marianne designs Ribbon eyelet die ( had to cut it down a bit)
made a bow from white and silver ribbon, leaving long tails, then threaded the tails through the eyelets. then placed it using foam pads.
I added some leaves to my flower using my new punch and thats it.

I have to admit it was a bit of a bugger to photograph though. Although the weather has brightened a little , it`s not bright enough for my camera to work without the flash going off.
I`ve only had the camera for about 6 years so I thought it was time to read the instructions and find out how to turn off said flash and Voila!
Much better. I think I really ought to carry on reading, you never know I might even learn how to take half decent photo`s.Lol.

The play date cafe #62

Hi Folks

A quick post today as I have to start getting ready for work soon.

The girls over at The Play Date Cafe  have given us this gorgeous colour combo this week,

After the cold blues of Christmas cards and the miserable weather, I was definitely ready for some pink scrumptiousness.
This is what I came up with,

Quite a plain and simple card, my mojo is still on holiday I think, but I`m rather pleased with the result.

The main DP is by Kameo cards matted onto some hot pink card.
I used a slightly paler pink for the scalloped border using my new Spellbinders Scallop die.
I`ve added a panel in white card and stamped the sentiment in Rose Bud . The sentiment is by Flourishes.
I made the flower using the same hot pink card and added a sparkly brad in the centre.
Some flat backed hot pink pearls to finish and thats it.

I`m having computer problems at the moment. It`s running really slowly and takes forever to do something really simple so I think I might have to have a look at it. ( then I`ll let son put it right LOL)
