Simply Less is More # 213

Hi there,
get me, still saturday and I`m posting my card for this weeks Simply Less is More challenge which has the title                                              THIS MAKES ME HAPPY.

Lots of things make me happy, family and friends obviously, babies, cute furry animals, craft shopping, chocolate...I go on for ever but the one thing guaranteed to put a smile on my face is knowing that I`m getting away, even for just a few days, in my little caravan.
Now I know caravans aren`t everyones cup of tea but I love mine.It means the weather is reasonably good and I have lots of time for sightseeing, walks in the country, sitting reading a good book or even a bit of crafting without feeling that I should be doing something else...like ironing.
Anyway enough of that, here is my card.

I used the Country Landscape die from Memory Box with white card so I could colour the trees and the houses then cut another from green paper, trimmed the top bits off and paper pieced the `hill`.
The caravan stamp is from Hobbycraft, coloured with promarkers and fussy cut before placing using foam pads.
The sentiment is computer generated.

I have a dream that once Alan has retired, in about 5 years time, we`re going to hitch the caravan up about mid april and just drive all around the UK stopping off at various places and eventually coming home when it gets too cold. I think I have gypsy blood.

Ruby is doing well although still not walking yet but the physio is going well. She had a visit to the joke shop yesterday and was in her element. She came home with a woopee cushion, which doesn`t surprise me at all as she thinks anything to do with farts is hysterically funny, and some chattering teeth. Just goes to show that it doesn`t cost the earth to keep kids amused.

Simply Less is More # 212

Hi there
I`m quite late with my card for this weeks Simply Less is More Challenge which is titled WINGS
I made two cards over the weekend but have only found time to post them.

For my first card I used Kaisercraft stains stamp set using Versacolor Mint, Orchid and Heliotrope.
The leaf stem is from Papertrey Turning a new Leaf stamp set stamped in Memento London Fog
I made the butterfly with Memory Box dies and purple and white vellum.
The sentiment is Flourishes Tag Line stamped and embossed in silver ep.
I added some gems to finish.

My second card also features a butterfly ( I`m so predictable).
I started with a scrap of paper printed with yellow hexagons from Pink Petticoat and given a fishtail.
I added a tiny strip of bright orange paper to give it some zing.
The tag is cut with a die from Die- namics and embossed with a Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls EF.
The sentiment is also from Flourishes.
I cut a circle from yellow card and embossed that with a Craft Concepts Woodgrain EF.
The leaf is part of a Memory Box Lorelai Stem die.
The butterfly is a stamp from Docrafts stamped in Versa mark Black and embossed in clear EP then coloured using Promarkers.

Not a great deal to tell you this week. Ruby continues to improve and although she`s still having terrible trouble with her calf and ankle muscles, she`s finding her own way around which is all good.

Spring Baby

Good morning,

I made this card in readiness for my daughters friend. Her baby was due in 2 weeks but Laila was born just before midnight last night so I can share it now. This will be her 6th baby, the other 5 are boys so I expect this one will be a very spoilt princess.

I wanted to keep it girly but delicate using the palest coloured flowers. I think it`s an age thing but I like to see babies in soft delicate colours and lots of white.

I`ve used Pink Petticoat papers, Swiss dots and Brocade in pale pink.
The sentiment is PC generated to make it personal and cut out with a SB Floral Oval.
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I cut the leaves using a Memory Box die and pale green Vellum.
The butterfly is another Memory Box die using pink and white vellum.
I finished off with some perfect pearls and a stick pin from my stash..

Thank goodness for scans, in my day we had to wait to see the sex of our babies. At least we can be prepared now.

50th Birthday

Hi,
A mid week post from me, now that is unusual AND it`s something a bit different to what I`ve been doing recently.

I was asked to make a card for a friends 50th birthday from her husband with a request for Tinkerbell, glitter , pink and flowers.
I know she loves all things shabby chic, `cos she`s constantly bombarding my FB newsfeed with shabby pics, and she loves diamonte or real diamonds if she could afford them lol.
This is what I came up with,

The BG papers are from Pink Petticoat ( Swiss Dots and Vintage Roses)
I found a Tinkerbell image online and glittered her wings and pom poms with Glamour Dust. She`s cut out with a SB Floral Oval die.
The flowers are mainly from Wild Orchid Crafts with a couple from a local store.
The pink twirly stem is also WOC.

The leaves are from a Memory Box die  ( Botanical Stem) cut from pale green vellum
The sentiment is PC generated and I`ve curled the banner shape slightly to give it some depth.
The numbers I`m really pleased with.
I tried using white glitter card but they just got lost against all the pink so I tried sponging them with distress ink but it didn`t look right. I don`t have any sugar pink glitter card and was at a bit of a loss but then came up with this.
I laid some double sided tape onto pale pink card and leaving the backing on I cut out the numbers ( so the sticky is on the front) then removed the backing and carefully placed the tiny gems on.
I know you can buy these numbers ready made but I couldn`t be bothered traipsing about looking just for this one card. I`m dead chuffed how they`ve worked out and it didn`t take as long as I thought it would.

I have to deliver it to her hubby this week so I hope it meets the remit. I know she doesn`t read my blog so I`m safe there.

Edited to add, I`ve just realised that I can enter my card into this weeks In the Pink Challenge

Simply Less is More # 211

Hi There,
It`s one layer week again at Simply Less is More with the theme of LOVE. To be honest I`m a bit fed up of lovey dovey, sloppy Valentines cards, I mean who needs a special day to let someone know you love `em?
So...I`ve gone slightly out of the box with my Love related card,

it does have a heart on it though ;)
I`ve used a Lili of the Valley stamp that I`m sure I`ve used more than once for LiM challenges but he`s very cute. I`ve coloured him with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens.
The sentiment is PC generated.

Ruby is continuing to do well. She`s had a lumber puncture and more chemo this week and everythings fine although she`s still struggling to walk. Her physiotherapist is pleased with her and is confident that it`s a temporary condition so we`re all pleased.

I`d like to welcome my two latest followers, Elaine and Traci. Thank you so much for choosing my blog to follow x

Happy 4th Birthday Less is More

Hi there,
I can`t believe it`s four years since the start of the Simply Less is More Challenge. It seems like only a few months since I read on Sarita`s blog about a new challenge about to start and thought I`d give it a whirl. I hadn`t grasped the clean & simple concept and needed a reason not to add ribbons to every thing I made. Four years on and I think I`ve finally grasped it.
Having said that I often have to remind myself not go overboard with the embellies.
Anyway it`s colour week this week being the first saturday of the month and this time it`s to use PINK & GREY.
For my card I`ve use a Penny Black Chevron stencil for the b/g. I tried using my homemade embossing paste but it just made a mess so I sponged some Memento London Fog instead.
The hearts are cut from a Sizzix die set in hot pink except the tiny ones which are punched.
The `Love` word is from Memory Box and  grey card. I`ve cut it out 4 times and layered it to give it some depth.
I`ve added some tiny gems to finish.
I was asked to make a non flowery Valentine card and I think this one will fit the bill nicely.

Ruby
Ruby came home from hospital last saturday just after I`d posted on my blog. We finally got to give her her Christmas presents on Sunday and had a lovely family day together. She is still a bit weak and is having lots of problems with her leg muscles. The chemo she is taking is known to affect the lower legs and ankles and combined with being bed bound for 6 weeks has taken it`s toll. She was measured up for, and later recieved a wheelchair to help her get around and yesterday went for her first physio treatment. She could only manage a couple of steps on her own even with support so the team found her a walking frame and that is much better. The more she uses the frame the easier walking will get so hopefully this is only a temporary glitch. Apart from that everything is fine apart from her Mum and Dad rearranging the house to store over 200 items of medical equipment.  Rather them than me .
