Less is More #6 Off the edge.

Hello, happy saturday.

As it is saturday it`s time for a brand new challenge at Less is More and this week we are asked to make a one layer card with an image stamped `off the edge`.
I must admit when I saw this at 8 o,clock this morning I nearly went off the edge but I thought about it, decided which stamps I had that would work  and I felt  much better. So much better in fact that I think I might have another couple of entries yet this week.

Here is my card,

I turned to my old faithful Papertrey Turning a New Leaf stamp set for this one. This is the largest of the leaf stamps and I`ve used Versacolour Evergreen to stamp it onto Kraft card.
The sentiment is my go to set from Flourishes,Tag Lines.

Can I just say a really big thank you to all that commented on my cards from last week. I did try to get round to you all but if I missed you out I`m really sorry.

This wasn`t my first choice, the one I really wanted to submit just wouldn`t stamp without leaving gaps in the image. I`m going to persevere though `cos I refuse to be beaten and hopefully will post that one another time.

Just a quick word about my back. I hate to go on about it because I sound like a/ a moaning minnie and b/ a hypochondriac but...I have had a bad back for years, I have degenerative disc disease in the lower back and spondylosis in the 1st 2 vertebrae of my neck. As I say I`ve had this condition for donkey`s years and know my limitations, what I can and can`t do. Although extremely painful at times it`s not a disability.
This is different though. It`s in the spine but lower down, nearer the shoulders, just above my bra. The doctor said it was a pulled muscle but everything I`ve read says that muscles heal within a week or so, this has been nearly 3 weeks now. So I`m still non the wiser. The really sad thing is that it gets worse when I`m crafting or on the comp. It`s that bending slightly across the top of the back that does it. Maybe I need a higher desk or a lower chair. I`m back at docs early next week so I`ll see what she says.
All the time I`m typing this, I can`t get out of my head, the terrible scenes from Japan and how devastating it must be for the people involved. It sorta puts my niggling back ache into context doesn`t it?

Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx

  8. Oh gosh Lynn I do sympathise, I have back problems, and suffered for years with 'mouse shoulder' and bra strap (mid thorsacic)level pain (I was an accountant) go and see a GOOD chiropractor, I did not even start to get better dispite spending £1000s on de-nervation, pilates, private physio, accupuncture, every drug under the sun you name it I tried it! when the NHS '??treatment' left me unable to work.
I only go 3 times a year now for an MOT and don't need anti spasm or painkillers. Go and get clicked !this was the best advise I had from a fellow sufferer. Doctors know NOTHING about back pain, a good chiropractor will tell YOU where it hurts by feeling the spasms in your muscels, seeing how you walk and sit etc.
Loving your cards, pain must bring out the creativity in you, sending a hug x

  16. Hi Lynne, a CAS card at its best; elegant and understated! I sympathise with the back trouble as I've had a slipped disc three times (each time after having a baby!) and ended up on traction for weeks at a time. Still suffer from time to time but, as you say, muscle damage is different. Doesn't sound right to me that you're still in pain. Hope you get sorted out at the docs. xxxx

  21. Hi Lynne

Lovely card - I love working with kraft card bases and the leaves on yours work beautifully.

I work in HR and look after H&S for our staff. If you're getting back pain when sitting to type or craft then it could be your workstation set up. Ergonomics can help. You should have the top of the monitor at eye level when looking straight forward (use a laptop riser to achieve this if you use a laptop) and make sure you can rest your wrists flat on the desk so you're at the right height, using a foot rest if you are then too high, or getting a lower chair if you're not low enough. A cushion with a keyhole at the back might alleviate the pressure on your spine while sitting for long periods too - I've used these with a couple of people at work who suffer back problems. Try to keep moving your position slightly every 15-20 minutes too so as not to become too stiff. Hope that helps (or tell me to keep my nose out if you already know all this!) and that you're feeling better soon. C x

Hope one or some of the other commentator's suggestions for your back help you.
