Less is More # 7 Masculine.

Good afternoon and a happy saturday to you all.

The challenge this week over on Less is More is Masculine. Argh, there`s a reason people don`t make many man cards. It`s because they are so difficult. You can`t even dress them up with ribbons and gems to hide the fact that the images you have mean nothing to the man in your life lol.
Anyway, not to be outdone I`ve come up with a card. It probably won`t be my only one this week but we`ll have to see. I`m really out of my comfort zone with this challenge.

I`ve used Rubbadubbado A Year in Sport that I`ve had for years and hardly used. I stamped in black Stazon
and coloured with Promarkers.
The wickets have been cut out with a nestie oval and raised with foam pads. The bat and ball have been cutout by hand and also raised with foam pads. The grass is from a scrapbooking pad that I got ages ago.
The sentiment is by Anita`s.
I was reasonably pleased with this until the sentiment didn`t stamp as dark as I`d hoped. Next time I think I`ll do it on the PC.

I was back at the  doctors again on wednesday and she`s given me another fortnight off but to be honest it`s much, much better than it was. I think my mojo has chucked a sicky too though.
I decided on thursday that I would set myself a challenge to make some cards using all my scraps of DP.
Sorted through the, now massive pile, matched up with matching or contrasting card and ribbons and then...nothing. I tried alsorts to get my mojo into gear but failed miserably. In the end I packed it all away and watched Corrie.
There now follows a short rant.
One of the things that I think we all enjoy the most about the LiM challenge is the amount of comments we`re getting and the feedback from Mandi and Chrissie. M & C have never failed to comment on an entry as far as can see and lets face it, there have been hundreds. Now for the rant bit. In the past few weeks I have entered other challenges and not had a word from the DT. I think it`s bad mannered to say the least and a bit demoralising too. I don`t think my entries were THAT bad.
So, from now on I`m not bothering. If they can`t be bothered to at least acknowledge me, I can`t be bothered to join in. Rant over.

Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx

  1. Hello lynne, i have the similar experiencie in others challenges de DT never post a comment is really demoralising, yes, and the people don't is very communicative, cold DT, cold people...i love Less is More.

  2. It's so nice to be appreciated Lynne, thank you so much!
This card is fab... and as it's not a one layer week, you can easily redo your sentiment on another piece of card, cut it out and place it over the one you're not so happy with... job done!
This is a terrific card though! Mr Mojo couldn't have been too far away with this one!

  3. What a clever card. It is not often I see cricket featured on a card, but as an Aussie it's nice to see!

  8. I think you're right to rant - if you've taken the time to make and submit the card then it's only fair the DT (or some of anyway) acknowledge your entry.

Hope you feel better soon and that your mojo returns home too - mind you, I think this card's just great for a man so can't see your mojo's AWOL!!!

  9. Hi Lynne

I think you did a GREAT mens card! The grass is great touch makes it really fresh.

I totally agree with your rant - sometimes I enter 4 or 5 challenges with one card and ZERO comments. Mandi and Chrissie are great I really appreciate their hard work which is why I come back to play every week.

    Take care x

  11. Brilliant card, Lynne. And yes use the sentiment on my card - I actually adapted it from one on Create with TLC because I didn't like their font or colour.

    1. Your card is wonderful.
    2. Go ahead and RANT! M & C made me feel so welcome when BOTH commented on my very first entry, and I've been here ever since. I love the nicities as well as constructive comments. They are fab hosts!
    3. I've used that grass DP over, and over, and over... especially for masculine cards. It never fails. Nice use here!
    4. Last but not least... our American pastime is baseball. I have NEVER seen a stamp set of cricket gear. How fun! I love this blog and I'm so glad you shared this card. It really tickles me.

  16. Hi Lynne, glad you're a bit better. You're another person I follow that hates doing cards for men even though you're so good at them!! This one is no exception - it's perfect!!

I think I've been fortunate when I've entered challenges as I've always had comments. For the PTW challenge the comments are shared out between the DT and I always do mine even though some weeks there are loads! Please let me know if it's our challenge that your not getting comments for. xx

  26. I have to totally agree with your RANT! If you are going to run a challenge - comment on the players cards!!

Meanwhile the grass bg is perfect with your guy images!

  27. Lynne, I love the "guy" feel of this card! Doesn't look like your mojo is away to me!!

As for the rant...I feel the same. I always try to comment on other entries for each of the challenges I participate in, and it's very time consuming...Sometimes I spend hours just commenting...so I understand your frustration! Besides all the wonderful inspiration at LIM, Chrissie and Mandi are awesome about commenting on our blogs!

  32. Hi Lynne!
Before I comment on your fab card, I want to say that I totally agree with you and I was saying the exact same thing to Jen today! You don't seem to even get as many visits from other entrants on other blogs. It is terrible when we put in so much hard work! I have to say, if I had not found the LIM blog, I would really have felt disheartened with it all and doubt my abilities with my cardmaking skills.

    Anyway, my rant over with!

I really love your card! It's just ideal and I really like your placement of all the components. And for what it's worth, your sentiment looks fine in the photo!

  33. Lynne your rant is a great one! I only enter two challenges, i always get fantastic comments from the LIM peeps. Chrissie and Mandi are so fantastic about feedback too which is very important as i know i need help to improve. On the other site i usually get only the DT leaving comments and this is very disheartening as i don't think my cards are that bad, but how will i improve if no one tells me!

Hope you are feeling much better very soon!

Your card is fantastic and a great masculine subject. I don't understand or watch cricket but i do understand and like your card:-)

  34. I'll look out for those stamps, we have more than one cricketing man in my family and any of them would love a card like this. I like the way it's got some dimension but is still very CAS.
