Color throwdown #100

Happy Saturday All!

At last! It`s here, the 100th Color Throwdown challenge and they are giving away dozens of brilliant prizes from some of the top names in crafting.

Here is the colour swatch we were given for this weeks challenge   and here is my submission.

Now I know that the whole point of a challenge is that it`s supposed to be challenging but sometimes the colour combo`s leave me perplexed.
When I first saw this weeks swatch I thought wow, easy peasy. Not so!.
This is my 3rd attempt, the other two are in the bin.
I finally decided that it`s the mixing of red and pink that throws me. It just doesn`t work for me. Try as I might to get them together on a card I simply couldn`t get it to work, my other efforts were, to say the least, horrendous
In the end it was the ribbon that finally sorted it for me.
I`m much more pleased with this one.

I used a plain white A6 card.
Matted and layered some pale pink card on it with a gorgeous .DP by Pink Petticoat in pale green.
The Tulip stamp is by Elusive Images and is from the Tulip Mandela set.
I coloured it with watercolour paints and cut out a circle with a nestie circle die.
I cut another slightly larger circle in the same white card and laid the image on top.
I ran a piece of ribbon down the length of the card and added a huge bow.
I punched two small butterflies from a scrap piece of blue dotty Pink Petticoat paper.
Then I tied in the red with 3 gem stones in the corner.

I have been looking forward to this challenge for a while and was determined to join in. I think I can finally relax now and enjoy the week end.

It`s Alans Mums birthday tea party tomorrow so fingers crossed for the weather. Every year his sister Christine holds a family get together in honour of Mum who is now the ripe old age of 85, bless her. I love it when we all get together and she`s such a good humoured and funny lady. We all end up in fits of giggles and thats without alcohol. Should be good day out for all!

Thanks for popping in ...Lynne xxx

  3. Love that you made those soft pinks and greens the focal colours - it's made such a feminine card with that gorgeous bow too. Giggling is really good for your health apparently so that explains Alan's mum's ripe old age!
